SRB's Pictures of Family

29 August 2002

Dear Family Members,

Here are some pictures of people that I do know. This page is far from a complete geneology. I still have pictures from my father's side of the family that need to be scanned and webpages to put together. I'd still love to receive more pictures to fill out our family's story. Just drop me an e-mail (shaunarae "at" cox.net) if you have any more pictures that you'd be willing to scan and share with me.

Eventually, I'll redesign these pages so they're prettier and better organized. Please stop by occasionally, and feel free to suggest things that I should include, edit, or whatever. In the meantime, I have Gramma LuVern's, Grampa Jack's, and Grampa Victor's ancestors up, but I still have the Stark's & Lingner's webpages to prepare.

I did find a nifty site with some Montana trivia. It's located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mtgenweb/montsong.html, and has the state flag, song, bird, tree, and flower. I was so tickled to find this web site, I just had to share it with all of you.

Thank you all again for your help.

                  Love,

                  Shauna Rae

1. Mom in high school (1962-63).
2. This is my great-grandfather, Elgie Meuli, holding my grandmother, LuVern, at age 18 months old, which dates this picture to June 1928. This photograph was given to me by Gwen (Meuli) Nelson.
3. This is my grandmother, LuVern Hazel Meuli. I'm guessing that the picture was taken at their house in Eureka.
4. LuVern married Jack Helms after she divorced Victor Fortin. This is my Grampa Jack Helms as a little boy around 1920.
5. These are my maternal great-grandparents, Elgie and Imogene (Johnson) Meuli, and my Gramma LuVern's parents. They were married February 18, 1928 in Marshall, Minnesota. This picture was given to me by Gwen Nelson, a Meuli cousin.
6. This group of gentlemen are all Meuli's. From left to right they are Elgie, his brothers Morris & Wesley, and kneeling is my uncle Duane, Elgie's son. This photograph was also given to me by Gwen (Meuli) Nelson.
7. Nellie Bartlett and Oscar Fortin were married in Kalispell, Montana on June 30, 1920. They are my great-grandparents on my mother's side, and her father's parents.
8. This is my mom's great-grand parents and grandmother. Pictured left to right is Mary Josephine (Seguin dit Laderoute), Nellie, and William H. Bartlett.
9. When the railroad came through the Tobacco Plains, the towns of Trego and Fortine became official places on Montana's map. The only problem was that the map maker swapped their locations on paper. In reality, Fortine should be where Trego is, because that's where Octave Fortin lived and his homestead was the first in this area along the Kalispell Trail. Octave is standing on the left. My grandfather, Victor Fortin who gave me these pictures of his parents and grandparents, didn't know the other people pictured.
10. According to a book, now out of print, by Olga Weydemeyer Johnson, Lena Fortin was described as friendly, and their ranch was a regular stop along the Kalispell Trail. Lena (Hack, her maiden name) is pictured on the left. Again, my grandfather only knew that Lena was on the left, and didn't know the identity of the others.
