LAST RITES FOR ELGIE MEULI SET FOR FRIDAY.
Last rites for Elgie Meuli, 54, have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Baptist Church in Eureka, with the Rev. Warren Pomeroy officiating. Mr. Meuli, longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday morning at his home here after a lingering illness.
Internment will follow in the Tobacco Valley Cemetery.
Mr. Meuli lived in and near Eureka for the past 27 years while working in the woods. He was working in Minnesota when he met and married his wife at Wilmar, Minn. about 1925. They lived there three years, then moved to the Kalispell and Somers area where they lived for ten years before moving to the Trego and Eureka area.
Mr. Meuli was born Jan. 4, 1908 at Proctor, Mont. He is survived by his wife, Imogene; a daughter, Mrs. LuVern Helms, and a son, DuWayne, all of Eureka.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Carol, Linda, Mary Gay, and Jeff Helms; his mother, Mrs. Loey Hazen of Kalispell, and three brothers, Selmer, Kalispell; Wesley, Hot Springs, and Emmett, Seattle.CEMETERY: Records obtained from Tobacco Valley Cemetery, P.O. IMOGENE MEULI TUCKER
Imogene Meuli Tucker, 82, died on July 4 at Mountain View Manor in Eureka of natural causes. She was born October 1, 1909 at Crofton, Nebraska, a daughter of Frank and Maria Johnson. She was raised and educated in Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota.
She married Elgie Meuli on February 18, 1928 in Marshall, Minnesota. They moved to the Flathead Valley in 1929 and then to Trego in 1939. They came to Eureka in 1940. Mr. Meuli preceded her in death in 1962. She married Arthur Tucker in 1965 at Couer D'Alene, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She is survived by a daughter, LuVern Helms of Eureka, a son, Duane Meuli of Kalispell, a sister Dora Mae Rodel of Kalispell, six grand-children, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Eureka with Rev. David Hopper officiating.
Burial followed at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery under the direction of Vial Funeral Home of Eureka. Holly Van Bemmel sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Just A Closer Walk" accompanied by Maurine Smith on the piano Pallbearers were J.R. Holder, Jared Sherwood, John Holder, Robert McKenzie, Gaylord Sherwood and Tom Price, Jr.
